Chapter 1: Before Getting Started 

For optimum running of VSoft Phone, please check the PC system requirements as below. 

PC System Requirements 

 

Requirements include: 

·        PC running with Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows ME Pentium II 400 MHz above;

·        128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended;

·        15 megabytes (MB) of available hard disk space;

·        CD-ROM or DVD drive;

·        Web Camera recommended;

·        Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device;

·        Microphone and sound card with speakers or headset;

·        Network Card;

·        Internet connection ready – ADSL above.

Chapter 2: VSoft Phone Installation 

The VSoft Phone installation is automatic, all you need to do is insert the VSoft Phone CD into the CD drive on your PC. The CD will then automatically launch and install the VSoft Phone.

Installation VSoft Phone

Step 1:  Insert the VSoft Phone installation CD into your CD-ROM/DVD Drive and the installation wizard will appear automatically on the screen. If wizard is  not automatically started up, please run the Setup.exe file at the root directory of this disc.

 NOTE

You can use the Wizard for initial product installation and for later additions and modification

Step 2: After inserting the VSoft Phone installation CD, the Install Shield wizard appears.

Fig 2-1: The following screen will appear. Click ‘Yes’ to proceed, or 'No' to quit.

* Please save all your work before continue the installation. This system requires PC to reboot to complete the installation.

Step 3: While the wizard starts to install the VSoft Phone software, the Software License Agreement will prompt. Click on ‘I Agree’ to continue.

Step 5: Select the ‘Browse' to change the Destination folder, or click ‘Install’ to begin the installation.

Step 6: After the installation is completed, click ’Yes’ to reboot PC, or 'No' to manually reboot after.

Chapter 3: Installing Your Headset

 

Headset Setup

If you have a sound card in your system, you may wish to connect a headset. Usually, there are two different outputs, one is labeled "Speaker out" and the other "Line out". The first one is usually better for speakers and the other for home stereo. The microphone jack is labeled "Mic In".

Step 1: Connect the Headset’s speaker (green color) to speaker connector at sound card ‘Speaker Out’ . Refer fig 3-1.

Step 2: Connect the Headset’s mic (pink color) to mic connector at sound card called ‘Mic In’ . Refer fig 3-2.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed VSoft Phone.

Chapter 4: Register VSoft Phone

 

How to Register your VSoft Phone

Step 1: Go to Start -> Programs -> VSoft. Or you can double click the    icon created on your Window desktop.

Step 2: You will need to register your VSoft Phone online before you can access to the VSoft application. Please click 'Get VSoft Account Here'  to register.

Fig 4-1: Main Login screen. New users register new VSoft account by clicking the 'Get VSoft Account Here'. Existing users will login with their voip number and password.

            Step 3: Enter Username, Email Address, Password and Confirm Password, then click 'Submit' to register.

* Once registration completed with a valid username and password, user will be assigned a new VoIP Number.
Users are going to use their own unique VoIP number to login.

Chapter 5: Using VSoft Phone

 

How to Login into VSoft Phone

Step 1: After the registration is completed, the VSoft login screen will appear. Please enter your VoIP number and Password (the unique password that you created on the registration page) to login into VSoft Phone.

  1. New users registration
  2. Check on this option to enable system auto-login without prompting user this dialog.
  3. Check on this option to enable system to remember user's VoIP number and password.
  4. Click on Login button after enter VoIP number and valid password.
  5. Click on Cancel button to quit.
  6. Users are allowed to configure VSoft 3 setting in Option.
  7. Click on 'Forget Me' button to clear the pre-stored VoIP number and password.

Step 2: After entering the login detail, please click on 'Login' button to access into VSoft Phone or click 'Cancel' to exit.

Functionality of VSoft Phone

 

Once you have successfully logged-in into VSoft Phone, a screen as below will appear, please refer Fig 5-2.

* Maximize VSoft application by double click the  icon or right-click and choose 'Restore'.

Exit VSoft Phone

Right mouse click and select Exit (refer Fig 5-2A). The VSoft Phone program will exit.

Address Book

Please click on the Menu, select Address Book option to get the address book. Please refer Fig 5-4.

To Add, Delete, Share and Edit Contacts

Step 1: Click "Add New Contact" (1) and enter your friend's name, VoIP, PSTN number and email, and click "Save" (3)  button to add into address book.

Step 2: The name and phone number will then appear in your address book (5) .

Step 3: You can have additional or alternate phone numbers at same contact name. If you wish to add another alternate phone number at same contact name, please repeat step 1. 

Step 4: To remove your friend's name and contact number from address book, select the row of record that you wish to remove, right-click the mouse and choose "Delete".

Step 5: If you wish to edit your friend's contact name and number, select the name and number and then right-click and choose "Edit" to update. 

Step 6: If you wish to share a contact with a friend, select the name to share, right click and choose "Share this contact".

Step 7: If you wish to call a friend from the list, select the name and then right-click, then choose Call and select VoIP or Mobile number to call.

Making Call from VSoft Phone

To Make a Call

Step 1: Click number you wish to call at address book and click the "CALL" button. Or double click the number you wish to contact at address book. Or you can use the keypad to key-in your destination number and click the 'call' icon. Refer Fig 5-11.

To Answering a call

Your PC speaker or headset will ring. Please click "CALL" button to accept or  "END CALL" button to decline the call. Refer Fig 5-13.

To Display Video Panel

Please click "TV" button to get the video display. Please refer Fig 5-14.

* Please note that clicking the "TV" button is to enable or disable the features, Video will be shown during calls, and auto-hidden when hang up.

VSoft Phone gives you option to start the Video Conversation, just check Video Enable, you will get video from your friends.
* Web Cam is required.

To Disconnect a call

Please click on "END CALL"  button to disconnect call with your friend.

To Adjust Volume and Mute - Speaker and Microphone

Click on Volumn Adjustor to show the volumn control panel of your speaker and microphone.
You can a djust the microphone and speaker volume to prefer level by clicking the ">>" or "<<". 

 

To Configure Sound Card and Camera  Driver

Step 1: Click on "MENU", select "Tune Audio and Video".

Step 2: Please choose the type of camera you are using, then click ‘Next’ to continue.

Step 3: To test the functionality of microphone, please follow the windows instruction and then click ‘Next’ to continue.

            Step 4: Select the microphone and speakers you are using and then click ‘Next’ to continue.

How to make Mobile, PSTN or VSoft call

Step 1: Please press 9 to check the balance or 8 to check your VSoft phone number and click the "CALL" icon.

Step 2: Please dial your destination number. Please follow the methods as shown below:-

How to create Conference Meeting

Step 1: Click on CONFERENCE button (5)to open conference dialog,

Step 2: Select people (hereby called 'Party') you wish to invite from Address Book,
            select VoIP number if this party is going to join the conference with VoIP, or
            select PSTN number if this party is going to join the conference with Mobile number,

Step 3: Check on "Can Listen" to allow this party to listen to the conference, and check on "Can Talk" to allow this party to speak,

Step 4: To cancel a selected party from invitation list, select and click "Remove from list" button

Step 5: To invite party that not in your address book, click "Option" to open an advance dialog.

Step 6: Enter party's Name, Number and define number type (VoIP or PSTN), and email.
            After that, click "Add Into Invitation List" to add party, or save this party into address book.

Step 7: Click on "Create Room" to start send invitation to parties.

To review your own VoIP number, VoIP version and credit balance

                  

Step 1: Click on menu and select "My Account", or click on "My Account" shortcut button (10)

Step 2: Your VoIP detail and credit balance are shown on the top of the dialog.

Step 3: You may click "Close" button to close this dialog.

 

 

 

To manage call details

Step 1: Click on menu and select "My Account", or click on "My Account" shortcut button (10)

Step 2: Click on "Call Detail Record" button

Step 3: Click on record headers to view detail by group.

 

 

Call Rates

Step 1: Click on menu and select "My Account", or click on "My Account" shortcut button (10)

Step 2: Click on "Call Rate" button.

 

To top up credits

Step 1: Click on menu and select "My Account", or click on "My Account" shortcut button (10)

Step 2: You may choose to top up credit by prepaid card or credit card.

Step 3-1: If you are reloading credit with prepaid card, please click on "Enter Serial and Pin" button, and then enter your Serial number
            and PIN number which found on your prepaid card, and click "Submit" to top up;

Step 3-2: If you are reloading credit with credit card, please click on "Credit Card" button and proceed to ShareIT.com website.

Step 3-2-1: Please follow the instruction on the website, provide valid and correct information to purchase credits by you credit cards.

Step 3-2-2: Once your credit card verified, you will receive an email from ShareIT.com enclosed with your Serial number and PIN number.
                 Please repeat step 3-1 to enter your Serial number and PIN number into the text fields and submit.

 

 

To send SMS and view SMS history

Step 1: Click on menu and select "Send SMS".

Step 2: Select Mobile number that you wish to send SMS to.

Step 3: If you wish to show your name on the SMS you are going to send, uncheck the "Use default signature" box and modify the default signature.

Step 4: To view SMS(s) history, click on "View History" button.

Step 5: Type in your short message and click "Send" to send your SMS.
